How a project management engagement works
Whether you need one troubled project brought back under control, an embedded project manager, or a PMO set up from scratch, the shape of the work is the same. A typical engagement runs 3–4 weeks once started, and it ends with a project that reports on itself, not a slide deck of recommendations.

A 30-minute conversation to understand what you are dealing with: one project that is slipping, a portfolio with no visibility, or a methodology that is not working. We ask how status is reported today and whether you want an embedded PM or help for the PM you already have.
Project health check (week 1)
We review the plan, the risk and issue logs and recent status reports, then interview the sponsor, the project manager and key team members. The output is a short assessment of where scope, schedule, budget or decisions are slipping, and which issues matter most.
Reset the plan (weeks 1–2)
With your team, we rebaseline scope, schedule and resources, choose the delivery approach that fits the work (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid or SAFe), build a working risk register and agree a governance cadence so everyone knows what “on track” means.
Run and embed (weeks 2–4)
We manage the project directly or work alongside your PM. Status reporting is set up so it no longer takes Friday afternoon, and where you run Microsoft 365 it can be automated through Synapse.
Hand over
You receive the templates, run-book and coaching your team needs to keep going without us, plus 30 days of support. If you would rather we stay on, a retainer is available after the build.
What it costs
Project management work is priced as a fixed fee for the defined scope, whether that is a recovery, an embedded assignment or a PMO setup. We work on fixed fees, not hourly rates: one price, a defined scope and a timeline, agreed before anything starts. If the work takes us longer than planned, that is our risk, not yours, and any change in scope is re-quoted before the next phase rather than added to an invoice.
The main things that move the price are:
- How many projects are in scope: one project, a program, or a full portfolio
- Embedded delivery versus advisory support for your existing project manager
- Whether the project is new or already in recovery, which needs more diagnostic time
- Whether status reporting will be automated on Microsoft 365

Can you take over a project that is already late or over budget?
Yes. Project recovery is one of the most common reasons we are brought in. We start with a short health check to find the real causes of slippage, rebaseline the plan with your team and then manage the project back to a stable state before handing it over.
Do you provide a project manager or support the one we already have?
Both are options. We can act as the embedded project manager for the duration of the work, or we can coach and support your existing PM with methodology, governance and reporting so they can run the project with more confidence.
Which project management methodology will you use?
We fit the method to the work rather than the other way round. We run Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid and SAFe delivery, and for many organizations a simple hybrid with clear stage gates and short delivery cycles works best.
Do we need Synapse to work with you?
No. Synapse is optional. If you already run Microsoft 365 and want status reports, risk flags and dashboards to update automatically, Synapse can be deployed alongside the engagement. Otherwise we work with the tools you already have.
Can a smaller organization justify a PMO?
Yes, if it is proportionate. For a smaller organization a PMO can be a light set of templates, a reporting rhythm and one portfolio view rather than a department. We size it to the number of projects you run and the decisions leadership needs to make.
